AGAIN ON LOCAL CONTENT a.k.a. BUY MADE-IN-NIGERIA - THE DORMAN LONG NIGERIA EXAMPLE

I concluded my recent write up on this topic by referring to the exploits of Nigerdock and Dorman Long. These rare exceptions show in sharp contrast the road not taken, the ground not covered in Nigeria's tepid steps to take care of it's own affairs. I have had cause to lament on these pages about inaction in boldly shaking up the technical and legal framework, (like the Indians), in domesticating the pharmaceutical industry. The case was CIPLA and RANBAXY MONTARI.
I have just searched for my old friend Chukwuma Henry Okolo, who I believe is still the Chairman of the Dorman Long group in Nigeria. The following is one of the many entries that I found. It was while I was involved in the West African Gas Pipeline Project undertaken by Wilbros WA, that I became aware, belatedly, of the huge capacity at Dorman Long in the area of dip galvanizing. I had earlier been running from pillar to post scouting for service providers.
