NIGERIA AND THE RENEWABLE ENERGY REVOLUTION

Nigeria has never placed itself in a position where we could ever talk of a transition from coal/fossil to Renewable. Nigeria was NEVER really in the power business. Check my RE: AFRICA AT THE COAL FACE OF DEVELOPMENT. If it doesn't make you weep, then nothing will.
One other thing is the lack of the necessary attitude vital to parlaying available Venture Capital to pursue the type of technical matters of which Renewable Energy is just one. I had sometime ago identified Oba Otudeko as a possible vehicle for such pursuits based on my readings of his current involvements. All my efforts failed.
If I had access to Otudeko I would probably read him the history of those investors who pushed the likes of Tesla to achieve what they did. I would want to steer him away from the usual paths travelled by the many foundations established by the very rich, ie schools, universities, hospitals, etc. There must be a meeting point between intellectual and financial capital here. Unfortunately Nigeria's monied class only respect intellectual capital if it originates from abroad. We pay dearly for this both in cash and lost time. Yet these same individuals will still proudly point out the copies of Lee Kuan Yew's FROM THIRD WORLD TO FIRST, adorning their studys. You will wonder if they ever read the book. I have resisted saying anything about the government in this essay. I would only succeed in annoying myself.
That was how a timber trader and iron ore miner like Boeing achieved such historical feats. Boeing was simply fascinated by aviation. Period. Yet he knew absolutely nothing about that then novel technology.
Who then will support the gestation and growth of Nigeria’s Renewable Energy Industry? I have chosen only one.
THE FUEL CELL.
See below, some preliminary information along these lines by BLOOM ENERGY. Every serious economy is currently involved. Nigeria is yet to join. But then we are not serious, or are we?
